Italy's bluegrass gathering: a community of musicians and music lovers who come together to play in open jams at a farmhouse in the woods.
Our story
Two years of music and jams around a circle of instruments — and above all, friendships made through playing together that continue long after the weekend ends.
The first Campout was almost an experiment. It went better than we had hoped — bluegrass has room to grow in Italy, and we will keep going.
We're on the right track, with musicians from all over Italy creating a welcoming atmosphere and keeping the jams going late into the evening.
The project
The Italian Bluegrass Campout grew out of love for bluegrass and the spirit that comes with it. We believe in jams as meeting places, where people play together, learn from each other, and grow — as musicians and as people. We would like to build a community: we aim for an open, inclusive atmosphere where someone who's played for decades and someone who just picked up an instrument can find a place in the circle. In addition to the annual Campout, we support regular jam sessions in Tuscany, Emilia-Romagna, and across Italy.
